1. In "Lives Lost" Dotson uses stand up by showing the audience the gym where the four girls participated in their activities. The techniques used to get soundbites from the children were the non-question/ question and filling the silence. By using the non-question/ question Dotson got some of the boys to admit that they had a crush on Natalie. By filling the silence Dotson got the children to extend their answer and give a more detailed answer.
2. In "Cave Rescue" my favorite line is the opening when Dotson describes what it was like for Emily Mobley in the cave.
3. In "Ruby Bridges" Dotson set the scene by bringing Ruby back to her old classroom that was like a prison to her. He showed foreshadowing by using a soundbite in the opening that gave you a hint as to what was going to come later in the story. "Ruby Bridges is back in a classroom that once ... was her prison." The conflict of Dotson's story is that Ruby faces a mob, her parents get divorced and her father loses his job. For character growth, Dotson showed how Ruby had changed over the years. After her brother was murdered near their old school Ruby's outlook changed. The resolution of Dotson story is when Ruby goes back to the school and that she wants to help others in her position and to keep their hearts and minds from closing.
4. In "Pearl Harbor" the surprise ending was after everything Alfred Preis went through during World War II he still continued to show his patriotism. He is also the architect who designed the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor.

Lives Lost
An example of when this story used the rule of threes is when the kids were being interviewed. The reporter asked a question and gave the kids an extended amount of time to answer the question to get more of an answer. This is called filling the silence.

Reaction to Tiger Woods
As a fan:
I was never a fan of Tiger Woods in the first place, not that I don't like him, I just don't follow golf. Even though some parts of his apology speech seemed kind of fake and scripted he should stop the self-loathing. He knew exactly what he was doing was wrong, and the worst part of it was that he thought he could cover up what he did by paying these 'mistresses' off with his money.
As a reporter:
I found it kind of creepy that he kept on looking directly into the camera. Also, it seemed pretty scripted. Generally apologies are from the heart but this one didn't seem to be. I thought that Tiger Woods was right to say that the reporters need to leave his wife and children alone. It was his mistakes so he should be the one paying for it, not his family.
Critiques:
Will - Simply Will
He incorporated his slogan pretty well. He explained it further in the first couple of pictures.
He did a good job at using the Premiere skills we learned in class. He had all sorts of transitions and text to the pictures.
His video was very interesting. I liked how the music changed in the middle of the video, it was shocking.
This video was 29 seconds.
Mikayla - The Worst Mistakes Make The Best Memories
She incorporated her slogan well through all of the pictures.
She used the skills pretty well.
Her video was interesting and the pictures were fun to look at.
This video was 30 seconds.
John - I'm a Winner
He incorporated it well through all of the pictures of winners.
The skills were good, all of the different transitions were interesting to watch.
It was pretty interesting, he used good pictures of winners.
This video was 29 seconds.
Jake - Jake Bakes Cake
He incorporated his slogan very well through his picture of a cake with a check mark.
He used them very good with all of the x's and how different they entered the screen each time.
This video was interesting. He did a good job using effects to add in things to the pictures.
This video was 29 seconds.

Neswpaper Article Response
I was shocked to find out that some big cities might be losing their daily newspaper, especially Minneapolis. I think the newspaper is a good thing in a way. Many people sit down and read the newspaper each morning and some people might not have the Internet so how else would they get updated on their current events. Also, the newspaper is apart of many peoples daily lives. For example the newspaper doesn't come out itself, it has workers and writers who work to get that newspaper out every day and if you take that away from them then they would be jobless. On the flip side getting ride of the newspaper might be a good thing. As technology advances the newspaper will become even more out of date and it will just continue to use up money that could go to something better.
